About the Course

We look at improving composition, conquering exposure, and understanding light – the most important element of photography.  We will keep things simple and easy to understand, and back up the theory with fun, practical sessions throughout the weekend. This workshop is ideal for anyone who is passionate about photography and wants to expand their skills and techniques.

We will examine the basic principles of what makes an image successful, and then learn how to achieve the best results for each one; taking both the creative and technical aspects of photography into consideration. So, if you want to discover the difference between taking a good photo and taking a great one, book now to ensure your place on this popular workshop!

This is a two day course; we aim to start each day at 10:00 am so ask you to arrive from 9:45 am.  Each day ends at around 4:00 pm.

Please bring your camera with memory card, fully charged battery and plenty of space on a memory card.

About the Tutor

Marcus has been a professional travel photographer for over 10 years, having travelled to over 50 countries on various assignments. After living in places such as Venice, Beijing, and San Francisco, he’s now returned to the UK, and currently lives on the Isle of Skye.

Marcus’s professional career was kick started when he was awarded the title of Photographer of the Year by Practical Photography magazine. Having a love affair with travel, Marcus packed a bag and journeyed around the world for five years, capturing high class images of unique landscapes and the people who inhabit them.

Marcus works with his business partner James McCormick (James runs our Photography Masterclass.  Meet Marcus and James on their YouTube Channel Photography Online. Marcus also runs workshops in Scotland, mainly on the remote islands e.g. Skye and St Kilda, and photographic holidays worldwide with Worldwide Explorers.

For many years Marcus shot all his work exclusively on medium format, and still uses his “dinosaurs” to this day. He also shoots with various Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras.
